Yes! While we can’t guarantee that our summer dates will work with every university’s unique schedule, we’ve set our summer dates with you specifically in mind. So many of our volunteers are in school and volunteer during their summer break.
Each ILP trip has its own unique departure and return dates, so it depends on the country you’re going to. That’s great because it opens up more departure options for you. We have a couple locations that may depart as early as mid to late April, with the majority of our programs departing in May or June. ILP trips are around 3-4 months, with most programs returning in August or early September. We’ll know by February or March (about 2 months before your trip starts) what the exact departure and return dates are for your country, when we finalize the flight itineraries.
You will need to be available to depart and return on your group’s semester dates. While most volunteers have been able to avoid conflicts with their school schedule, if there is one, consider talking with your professors to let them know your plans. It’s completely up to your professor (or higher up positions) but some volunteers have had luck taking finals a bit early so they can leave on time for their semester.
You can also talk to your ILP representative about choosing a location that tends to leave the latest for their summer semester. Choosing a location that leaves in June rather than mid-April may be best for you.
